James joined Kilbarry Hill in 2014, having previously worked as an Estimator and Architectural Technologist. James also has a diversified background ranging from insurance, hospitality, HR and teaching, but his true passion is construction. Prior to Kilbarry Hill, James worked for a New Urbanist planned community, a mixed-use development focused on pedestrian accessibility and traditional architecture. Here, James introduced quantity survey systems and estimate templates, ensured and solidified trade/developer contracts and relations, was the customer service representative for new home deficiencies, procured new products to add to the traditional look of the development, altered floor plans based on client’s desires with AutoCAD and reviewed/approved drawings prior to submission for permits.
When not working on his own projects, James volunteers his time to environmental causes, groups and political affiliations that promote sustainable living and design. James holds an Honours Degree in Sociology from York University (Glendon College), a post-graduate diploma in Hospitality from Les Roches Marbella, Spain and a diploma in Architectural Technology from George Brown College in Toronto.
